Iman grew up in Bellevue, WA. After getting a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, she first worked with youth in public schools. At this point she didn’t know much about hiking or backpacking. It was hard to do much without a car, gear, or experienced people to help her learn, so she sought out resources. Her first backpacking trip set her on her path as an outdoor educator. She worked 2 seasons taking youth backpacking in Olympic and North Cascades National Parks. This led to her curiosity for conservation and trail work. To continue her passion for seasonal field work she joined a chainsaw crew with Arizona Conservation Corps, then a backcountry trail crew with Washington Trails Association, and most recently worked for Utah Conservation Corps. Now she is thrilled to be back in Arizona to work hard outdoors and have fun. Iman’s hobbies include vegan cooking and whittling spoons.
